Tell Mormon secrets? Be disemboweled!
DISEMBOWLING ACTED OUT IN MORMON TEMPLE
Just before being married in the Salt Lake City temple, my mother went through the endowment ceremony. In that ceremony, she…like millions of others–endured the gorey pantomime of saying out loud that her neck would be slashed and she would be disembowled–her guts spread out on the earth.

Interesting, I was in the Mormon Temple just last night and this didn’t actually happen. But I’m sure you-a guy who has never actually been inside an LDS Temple-know way more than I do only having been there countless times in my life.

LikeDislike@KC, apparently you never went to the temple prior to 1990… since then they have conveniently removed the hand gestures. You need to do a little homework! Here’s how it used to read up until 1990:
I, John, covenant that I will never reveal the First Token of the Aaronic Priesthood, with its accompanying name, sign, and penalty.
Rather than do so, I would suffer my life to be taken.
(The Officiator demonstrates the execution of the penalty.)

LikeDislikeDid you even read what he wrote? Do you know what the word pantomime means? They did not say their mom was disemboweled, he said they were threatened to be if they tell the “Mormon” secrets. To me this equates to a rumor or lie being told and that the teller does not want the person to divulge to others in fear of the truth being exposed. The Mormons believe that if people think what they believe in is false it only confirms what they believe is true. This is very strange to me which according to the Mormons I am Satanic, lol. Oh yeah let me tell you I am the devil, my horns and tail are starting to grow, LMFAO. I go to church and believe in God and Jesus Christ and study the actual bible that my God has inspired. I don’t believe in the book of fiction that John Smith, a mortal man, wrote describing how God is an alien that was once a man on another planet in our universe and now rules over planet earth. Do you realize how freakin crazy that sounds? Supposedly God is of flesh and bones and had literal sex with the virgin Mary and gave birth the Jesus Christ who, according to Mormons, would technically be half alien and half human. This sounds about as crazy as what that cult that committed suicide believed in when the comet came close to the earth. Good luck with you prophet Mitt Romney making it to the White House, if he believes the same BS you do he will be the worst president in the history of the World.

So hear me out. Joseph Smith was a convicted con man. So right from the jump his teachings are suspect. Secondly the polygamy thing. That’s a good one, Joey. All the guys get to have as many wives as he wants. Even little girls were forced to marry their creepy uncles, cousins, etc. women have no power in the church. That way they couldn’t change any laws regarding Joey Smith and his cohorts from having every man’s wet dream , a freaking harem. Then, to top it off, these women may only get to Heaven if Thur crazy husband allows it. So she better do as til in this life or go to hell in the next. Nice one. And you LSD ladies believe this shit and put up with it because a com man said so a couple hundred years ago?

LikeDislikeSince the LDS church was founded by Freemasons, who themselves have a series of penalties that relate to spreading Masonic secrets. As mentioned by Jettison above, the Mormons used hand gestures in a very similar fashion to the Freemasons. The LDS church was created by American Freemasons who wanted a American church. If you want proof of this “theory”, look at a Mormon temple and tell me what do you see. You will see a plethora of Masonic symbols in a temple.
Also, where did you get this “God is a alien” mumbo-jumbo from. The Mormons teach that God resides near the star/planet of Kolob in the ‘Celestial Heaven’.
I was a member of Mormon church for a short period of time, and what stopped me from going to church every Sunday was not the people, their slightly strange beliefs relating to coffee and tea or any form of indoctrination but that the religion is very “man friendly” and not very “woman friendly”. Which is rather ironic, since nearly every single church is exactly that; even the Jedi.
P.S. In the future, before you decide to preach that your church and Bible are of the true faith, please take into regard that the “modern” form of Christianity itself was a mass fabrication by the Roman Empire (who are now known as the Roman Catholic Church) in order to maximise profits. And, as far as I am aware, all forms of Christianity are based the Roman version (other than Gnosticism, who USED the gospels that were not allowed into the Christian Bible).

LikeDislikeI’m currently an “endowed” member. I have been to the temple and KC you are correct, as the temple ceremony currently is there isn’t a death oath. However, this was part of the ceremony into the 1990′s. I as told about the “death oath” in the temple by my parents when I had my endowments taken out. It was removed around the time the Mason’s removed their death oath from their ceremony (almost identical to ours) and shortly after the Lafferty brother murders in which they murdered a mother and her 2 year old in the manner described in the temple ceremony.
This is the earliest known death oath I know of: “We agree that our throats be cut from ear to ear and our tongues torn out by their roots.” (all bow heads and say “yes”…you understand that part.) “We agree to have our breasts cut open and our hearts and vitals torn from our bodies and given to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field….we agree that our bodies be cut asunder in the midst and all our bowels gush out.” -1930′s version.
Practiced form 1930-April 1990 Death oath #1 In regards to revealing any temple secrets. “Rather than do so, I would suffer my life to be taken.”
Death oath #2 “This is the sign. (The officiator demonstrates.) The Execution of the Penalty is represented by placing the right hand on the left breast, drawing the hand quickly across the body, and dropping the hands to the sides. I will now explain the covenant and obligation of secrecy which are associated with this token, its name, and sign, and penalty, and which you will be required to take upon yourselves.” There is one more death oath similar to the first one for revealing secrets.
You are still making the oaths of secrecy above, just without the gruesome parts.
Unless you had a different temple experience then I did you know that you made an oath to sacrifice your lives and all that you posses to the church.
Reading these comments it surprises me how much LDS people don’t know about their own religion. I knew this as an active member. I may not have known the gory details but I was certainly aware of the death oath and Lafferty murders. A close family member refused to go back to the temple for 23 years because she was so traumatized by this and only went back after the oath was removed.

LikeDislikeInteresting take on the matter! Having been an endowed member for 40 years I am well aware of what is spoken of here in regard to this “penalty” thing — but in point of fact, it is not a penalty for revealing that which is sacred, but a promise to not reveal something no matter what “they” do to you.
What is expected of a soldier in wartime who knows important secrets supposed to do when captured by the enemy and subjected to torture to try to extract those secrets? Why, despite everything the enemy does to him, he is expected to still keep the secret! Imagine that! Not quite so weird as you thought, then, huh? Of course, if you are a faithless person, it certainly may seem to be an unusual kind of promise to make.
LikeDislikeMike, Jesus said he “taught nothing in secret” (John 18:20). Why then would the Mormon god require his followers to keep secrets? Yes it is important to keep secrets during war time, and I am sure you see your self as being “at war” with Satan, but secrets do get out as a quick search of the internet for Mormon temple ceremony demonstrates.
What about people who went through the temple, but then leave the church? They still know the handshakes and penalties. Will they still be able to get into heaven since they know the signs and tokens?
Is your god so impotent and lacking in omniscience that simply knowing the signs and tokens revealed in the temple would allow even the most vile of souls to walk straight through the gates of heaven?
Will Masons who also use those same tokens and penalties be able to get into Mormon heaven?
If God knows my heart, and inner most thoughts, why do I need a handshake to demonstrate that I am righteous and worthy to live in his presence?

LikeDislikeMike, the Bible is true and not secret why dont you read it ,you will learn that you dont need death oaths or all that other garbage. Its time you and others like you wake up

Also baptizing dead people really! Is that not against there free will whatnot they were Jewish or atheist? Do you still think this is okay you arrogant self richous bastards! Ex-Mormon and proud of it! I hope I don’t forget the secret hand shake and secret name so I can get into heaven and have as many wives as your beloved Joe schmo smith!

LikeDislikeJust back from Salt Lake City and tours of the Square. Didn’t know about the underwear (oh, please!), or Mormon secrets. WHY are there secrets?
It certainly seems that there is a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ tied up on the Mormon church. One of our tour guides has a house in Hawaii and a ranch in Utah, and who knows what else. In addition, he was extremely patronizing to a black member of our group. No hot drinks? Oh come on, what all are y’all drinking?

LikeDislikeThe Masonic oaths are still in place.
LikeDislikeActually the masonic ritual have not changed and the early LDS rituals are basically copies of the masonic rituals. Joseph Smith and several early leaders of the church were freemasons.
LikeDislikeThere is a simple explanation for this. I am a mason and a Mormon, and I can tell you that these violent oaths came from Masonry. The temple has a lot of masonic influences, many of which were later removed. This was natural since most male Mormons were masons in the early church. The temple endowment was created around a masonic structure and form.
A lot of the complaints about the endowment are really complaints about the masonic influences. Nobody talks about all the amazing, inspired things, like the journey of Adam and Eve, and our path through the degrees of Heaven.
Masons don’t take these violent oaths literally. They are meant to impress upon the mind the seriousness of the oaths. To really appreciate the beauty of the masonic and LDS temple ceremonies, you really have to witness it in context, and with a humble heart, willing to submit and learn. Once you do that, they are both incredible experiences.

LikeDislikewilling to learn what? BS? Masons and Mormons both have strange rituals, especially that man that murdered his wife and denied it and then killed his children with an ax and then set himself and them on fire. I seemed to have missed the commercial about him explaining how great and wholesome all Mormons are. What was his name again? Oh yeah, Josh Powell, he was a great Mormon let me tell you. So is he in heaven? Do you think he will allow his wife in heaven at least since he murdered her, it is the least he could do. Then she can be pregnant forever and give birth to more spirits since her children were murdered by her loving Mormon husband.

LikeDislikeBillybud,
I appreciate your informed responses. It’s nice to know some believing Mormons understand their history.
I have to disagree with the wonderful part of the temple ceremony, at least for me. The only part I found peaceful was the stillness and beauty in the Celestial room. There were many parts that I found extremely disturbing.
I also liked the idea of eternal families/sealing.
It is always interesting for me to know of Mormons who are okay with all the ways this most sacred and perfect temple ceremony used Masonic rituals. (We still have their handshakes.) FYI Also, from all the research I have done, the Masons did remove their death oath, at least as it was. How long ago were you a Mason? If you research this I assume you will find the same thing, if I’m wrong I apologize. It was shortly after the Lafferty brother murders and it is my feeling that the death oaths were removed because of the way in which this high profile murder was carried out.
Also what are your thoughts on the removal of the Protestant Minister in the temple ceremony? A man’s mistake made by the Prophet?
LikeDislikeAnd everything both seen and heard and done in the Morman temple is to be taken literally. There is NO symbolism involved.
LikeDislikeThe masons are a lot like the bible: i.e. around for a long time, even through the apostasy, and descended from truth, but with a lot of truth removed. The entire old testament had references to Christ systematically removed thousands of years ago. The new testament is extremely short and when the apostles were killed, the keys of understanding the whole truth went with them (hence the need for a restoration). Joseph Smith was used by God to restore truth by translating the Book of Mormon, yet the Bible, with most gospel truth, already existed. Then Joseph Smith was used by God to restore the temple ceremonies which went all the way back to Adam and even before that, but much of the temple ceremonies had been preserved by the Masons (although the Masons have no clue about the purpose of these ceremonies). Satan cannot remove every grain of truth, he just takes out the purpose and the keys of knowledge as societies disintegrate and degenerate. Satan erases knowledge of Christ wherever he can, and erases purpose to things such as the parts of the temple ceremonies that the masons preserved for thousands of years.
LikeDislikeStacy, the temple ceremonies started with Moses, that the Jews practiced as recorded in the the old testament Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Adam did not practice temple ceremonies. The Old Testament describes those ceremonies. and they don’t seem to be what the Masons and Mormons are doing. In the bible, there are many many references to Christ, especially in Isaiah 53 and the Psalms 22. When the apostles were killed the gospel was spread through out the world along with the understanding and it is still present today. God promised that if you seek me you will find me. Hebrews 11:6
The Masons get their ceremonies from Egyptians, not Jews, and if you know any thing about Masons, they worship three Gods ( Jehovah, Baal, ??) My father was a Mason, My brother was DeMolay and I was a Rainbow Girl. Masons do have a clue but the source of power is not Jehovah God, and they do not focus on the redemption through Jesus Christ. And I used to ask myself if this is so good, why is behind closed doors(secret)and why do you have to be invited by a member to join or get a member to sponsor you? I had a friend who was catholic and wanted to join but they seemed to have an issue with here being catholic. So is that so good? If Joseph Smith was used to restore the truth why does it conflict with the original Bible?

LikeDislikeIt’s just really funny to me that the LDS is so VERY secretive. Secret words. Secret handshakes. Oaths of death upon revealing these secrets. And, they bring life to the term “Card Carrying Member” since you have to present a card to enter their Temples! What do they, like Mr. Romney, have so very badly to hide? I know of NO Christian Church that excludes ANYONE of ANY denomination from entering their churches. And, also no other beliefs that exclude other beliefs from entering their places of worship. From what I know, all are welcoming to all, except the LDS. And, no Christian, or any belief, again except the LDS, require a CARD to get in! It’s an exclusive club, wouldn’t be wanting the “wrong sorts” getting in, would we?

LikeDislikeI find this very interesting. I have been a member my whole life and some of what is presented on this website could not be farther from the truth. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints are NOT perfect.
With that said Micheal I am unsure if you have ever been to an LDS church but it says right on the building Visitors Welcome. There is nothing to hide if you would like to know something all you have to do is ask. Anyone can attend the LDS church. The “cards” are temple recommends. They help keep track of how often the Temple is used. You obtain a temple recommend by meeting certian criteria that is established to let worthy members of the church enter into a sacred place.
Patrick if you would like the low down why don’t you attend a service? Or talk to the missionaries? Also it is the LDS church. LSD is a drug not a religion.
As for all the bickering. There is no need for it. In the United States we are given the right to practice religion. It does not matter what religion you are you should be allowed to believe what you want. If you are so curious about “Mormonism” get in touch with the missionaries or go to a service. It’s not that hard. But don’t go off of what other people say make it a point to find out for yourself. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet or hear from someone else. It may be just an opinion and not have anything to back it up.
Love everyone and do what makes you happy. Don’t dystory someone else just because you can. You become a bully when you do. And make it a point to just get along with everyone. Don’t judge it will make you unhappy. And above all
TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED!

LikeDislikeThat’s a typical Mormon answer… Forget all of the ‘behind the curtain’, destructive things that are being told to fresh minded vulnerable children. Because all we need is love and understanding, right. Human beings are too fucked up to have been created by a supreme being. Especially people like you ‘paramedicgirl’ who do not seem to understand how many lives have been destroyed by your religion and every other theistic religion out there. Life would have been so much easier for LDS leaders if we didn’t have the Internet, because they now have to constantly come up with new explanations for their incorrect doctoring and beliefs.

LikeDislikeJust back from Salt Lake City, and there was no way we non-Mormons could get into the temple. Oh, please, girl, use your brain!
LikeDislikeYou ask why it’s secret. Look at this discussion. Not even those who have been and left and those who still go agree on what happens. Perhaps the reason for the card is to try and ensure that only those who are ready to understand the highly symbolic ceremonies attend. As for the ceremonies of the Temple not being in the Bible–very little is written and is vague at best as far as the Bible is concerned. In Mathew it says “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.” There are secrets to be revealed. My guess is to keep Satan from corrupting them.
By the way, as a Mormon, let me tell you that I know I cannot be saved except through Jesus Christ. He is my Savior and my Master. What he asks of me I will do–which is what it means to be a follower of Christ. It is because of him that my sins can be forgiven. Good luck to those who claim him yet do not follow him!
